Have Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before your first class.

Do I need my own inline skates to take lessons?

+

You don't need to own skates to get started — but we recommend bringing your own if you have them. Our instructors can help guide you on choosing the right pair. If you're brand new, we suggest attending a class first before investing in equipment.

What age is required to take skating lessons at CityRollers?

+

Our skating lessons are open to both adults and children starting from age 5. We offer programs adapted to each age group so every student — young or adult — can learn at their own pace in a safe and fun environment.

How long does it take to learn how to inline skate?

+

Most beginners develop basic balance, stride, and stopping skills within 2–4 group lessons. Progress depends on your fitness level, consistency, and how often you practice between sessions. Our certified instructors tailor each class to help you improve at your own pace.

What is the difference between group and private skating lessons?

+

Group lessons are a fun, affordable way to learn alongside skaters at your level, with Sunday sessions guided by a certified instructor. Private lessons offer one-on-one attention fully tailored to your specific goals — the fastest path to improvement.

What should I wear to a CityRollers skating lesson?

+

Wear comfortable athletic clothing you can move freely in, and we recommend wearing tennis shoes / sneakers for your first sessions before getting your own skates. Full protective gear is required for all lessons: helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards. This complete set of safety equipment is non-negotiable and significantly reduces the risk of injury while you build confidence on your skates.

Where do inline skating lessons take place in Atlanta?

+

Lessons are held at a specific location in Atlanta chosen for being flat, comfortable, and ideal for practicing what you learn in each session. This dedicated spot gives students the right surface to build skills progressively without distractions. The exact address is shared upon registration.

Do I need prior experience to join a skating lesson?

+

No experience is needed for our Beginner Fundamentals class — we truly start from zero. For Intermediate Progression and Urban Skater programs, basic skating ability is required. Our instructors will assess your level and recommend the right program for you.

How many people are in a group skating lesson?

+

We keep group sizes small to ensure every student gets proper attention from the instructor. This creates a supportive, social environment where you can progress consistently without feeling lost in a large crowd.
